Carrie Preston

Carrie Preston, an American actress, director, and producer, was born on June 21, 1967, in Macon, Georgia, USA. She is widely recognized for her versatile performances across film and television.

Preston earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Evansville in 1990 and later obtained an acting diploma from the Juilliard School's Drama Division in 1994.

She made her feature film debut in the romantic comedy My Best Friend's Wedding (1997), starring alongside Julia Roberts. Preston's portrayal of Amanda Newhouse marked the beginning of a prolific film career. She went on to appear in Mercury Rising (1998) as Emily Lang and Guinevere (1999) as Patty.

In 2005, Preston played Sydney Schupak in the critically acclaimed film Transamerica, sharing the screen with Felicity Huffman. Her role in Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) as Sally further showcased her acting range. The same year, she appeared in Doubt as Christine Hurley, acting alongside Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Preston continued to build her filmography with roles in To the Bone (2017) as Susan and They/Them (2022) as Dr. Cora Whistler. She also starred in The Holdovers (2023) as Lydia Crane, demonstrating her enduring presence in the film industry.

Beyond her film career, Preston has achieved significant success on television. She is best known for her portrayal of Arlene Fowler in the HBO series True Blood (2008–2014). Her recurring role as Elsbeth Tascioni in The Good Wife (2010–2016) earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series in 2013.

Preston reprised her role as Elsbeth Tascioni in the spin-off series The Good Fight (2017–2022). She also starred as Polly Marks in the TNT series Claws (2017–2022), further solidifying her status as a versatile television actress.

In addition to acting, Preston has directed several television episodes, including What is Happening in America for Claws (2019) and And the Fight Had Détente for The Good Fight (2021).
